Cyclone Nargis

In the early hours of 3rd May a powerful cyclone hit Myanmar (Burma) in the southwest of Rangoon. More than 42 000 people have been reported missing and over 22 500 people are confirmed dead - a figure that is sure to rise as more regions are reached. Whole towns and villages have been wiped out by Cyclone Nargis.

Human Appeal International has launched an emergency appeal to help the victims of this tragic disaster. Working with local partners on the ground Human Appeal International is organising the distribution of essential aid.

The immediate priorities are to provide food water clothing and emergency shelter. More than 1 million people have been left homeless with no shelter.
