Despite the booming economic growth, which is limited to a narrow
coastal strip, 22 million people live on less than 50 pence a day in
China. This ancient civilisation suffers from some of the worst poverty
in the world. 8% of Chinese children under 5 are malnourished, and this
number will grow unless more projects are set up helping the people out
of poverty.
