When a family’s main source of income is lost – through death or economic instability – the entire family suffer huge social psychological and physical affects resulting in depression low self-esteem and even further loss of life.
Human Appeal International currently operates the Family Sponsorship Programme in 11 countries. This project brings together the short-term and long-term solutions for families in need. The project responds to urgent problems for the family setting in place stability for their future needs and welfare.
The cost of saving a family in need is £50 per month (£12.50 a week). This is a small amount considering the impact it brings: stability and dignity back into their lives. This money covers all their basic needs for an entire month.
HAI has a clear method for choosing which families need sponsorship. The requirements are:
• The breadwinner of the family is disabled and unable to work due to his/her disability
• The breadwinner is terminally ill
• The mother is divorced and has to work to look after her children alone
• The breadwinner is unemployed due to economic instability
• The family is too large for the breadwinner’s income to meet their basic needs

What will £50 per month do for a family?
• It will provide stability and security for a family
• It will help with costs such as medical and education for the whole family especially the children
• It will give a helping hand to the breadwinner and bring back some dignity and honour back into his/her life
Case Study
Sponsorship in Palestine
We are currently sponsoring over 500 families in Palestine. Of these 300 hundred families are being sponsored in the West Bank and the other 200 families in the Gaza Strip.
One of the areas in the Gaza Strip is called Nusariate where a refugee camp is based. In that camp we are sponsoring 35 families.
There are countless other similar instances where whole families are in need of your help. Your support can give us the ability to assist anyone who needs our help and continue with out effort to remove poverty forever.
