Human Appeal International has built over 1 000 permanent shelters for the affected families of the Pakistani earthquake disaster of 2005. The most urgent need for the survivors is sufficient shelter to protect people from the bitter cold of winter.
We addressed this problem by providing the shelters they needed. A total of six villages were selected: 3 in Muzaffarabad 1 in Bagh and 2 in the Manserah district. Each shelter is 28 ft. by 14 ft. and is made from stone timber and correlated CGI aluminium sheets. A stove was installed in one of the rooms so people can cook and to keep warm. A toilet was installed in the second room to aid effective sanitation by stopping the risk of disease spreading.
Through the building of these permanent shelters thousands of people have been saved from the cold bitter temperatures that exist in that region. Many families can feel secure and are now able to look towards the future in rebuilding the rest of their shattered lives.
