The situation in Iraq continues to worsen day by day. The lack of security has taken its toll on the people and affects their daily life. A constant lack of electricity water sanitation and curfews have all contributed to what many in the country describe as a living nightmare.
Two decades ago Schools in Iraq were regarded as some of the best in the Arab world. Unfortunately the lack of education has had a huge effect on child population.
Undoubtedly Iraq’s medical care was of a high standard and was the envy of the Middle East. Sadly over 15 years of sanctions have crippled the health care system in Iraq to the level of a third world developing country.
Human Appeal International has been sponsoring schools in Iraq since 2003 and continues to do so. Education is a big part of our work and last year HAI distributed a massive 127 497 school kits in 8 provinces: Baghdad Dyala Arbil Najaf Basra Dewaniyah Basra Mosul and Sulaymaniah.

To provide educational support HAI set up 9 schools by providing 172 tents to cater for the IDP children who fled the city of Fallujah with their families to escape the conflict in 2004. A total of 3 600 children are receiving free education in the Al-Ambar Province.
HAI continues to look after 815 families through the monthly family sponsorship programme. Food water education and medical care are provided. Cooling fans were distributed to 175 families living in the camp who were at risk from the severe heat in the summer.
In Ramadan 12 382 families benefited from the Iftar meals and the Ramadan food parcel project in the districts of Baghdad Dyala Qadsiyah and Fallujah.
Clothes were distributed to 905 families in the districts of Baghdad Fallujah and Dewaniyah. Majority of the beneficiaries were children who received this on the blessed occasion of Eid Ul-Fitr
