Can you imagine being cast out into the street cold lonely and frightened? Millions of orphans worldwide feel this way every single day. With no family shelter food water education or medical care these children face a constant struggle for survival.
There are millions of orphans in the world today and the number is rising dramatically due to war famine natural disasters climate change and diseases such as HIV and AIDS. One report by a research group based in Switzerland predicts that the number of orphans will reach 100 million by 2010. Neil Monk a research scientist with this Swiss group said: ‘the issue is that however many children [are orphans] today never mind by 2010 we are not providing [enough] care and support for all of them. And do we really need to know the precise figure to provide this?’
At Human Appeal International we believe that every child has the right to have a family. Unfortunately millions of orphans throughout the world have no one to look after them. These children are the most vulnerable of all having lost their families to war disease or natural disasters. Frightened and alone orphans are constantly exposed to the threat of being forced into war slavery and prostitution…
