As we send our youngsters, siblings and loved ones off to school each morning, over 600 million children live in adverse poverty, deprived of an education. Unable to cover the costs of basic necessities like food and clothing, educational costs such as books, lunches, transport and tuition fees are luxuries last in the line of priority.

Those that are lucky enough to see the inside of a classroom attend local makeshift schools that are severely overcrowded and understaffed. Not only do the buildings lack clean water and safe working environments, but teachers are almost always unqualified, lacking in drive and motivation. The quality of education is so poor that attendance offers little hope for a brighter future.

Eventually, children grow up to face a life of unemployment and poverty. Those that do manage to secure manual jobs are grossly underpaid and overworked.

At Human Appeal International, we recognise the value of education and the power it has to change lives. We hold tight to the philosophy that through education comes empowerment; the ability to improve economic, social and health issues.

By investing in the construction and maintenance of schools, teacher training and pupil sponsorship, girls and boys are able to receive the education they need to secure well-paid jobs, support their families and future children and boost their local economy.

The ability to read and write, analyse and calculate also means that children grow up less vulnerable to exploitation and abuse. With full working knowledge they can open businesses that sell produce at the correct price and by ethical means, employees can lobby for higher salaries and better working conditions and women can gradually enter the workplace, raising their status in society.

For just £10 a month you could help a gifted child receive the education they need to succeed in life. This donation helps to train teachers, increasing the quality of schooling and reviving their passion for education.

Will provide training in the following areas:

1. Basic computer and literacy skills
2. Clothes making and fashion
3. Embroidery
4. Handycrafts
5. Beauty and Therapy
