Water: Crystal clear
Almost one billion people across the world live without access to clean drinking water. In countries across Sub Saharan Africa and South Asia, women and children are forced to walk for hours each day in search of water. This journey is not only physically gruelling but also extremely dangerous. Whilst walking across miles of deserted land in day and night, women are exposed to the threat of sexual harassment and even attack.
When they finally reach a river, swamp or pond the water is dirty, heavily contaminated with diseases like Hepatitis A, E.coli, Cholera and Salmonella. This means that after carrying heavy litres of water for hours each day at the risk of harm and assault, families drink dirty water and contract diseases that often lead to death.
At Human Appeal International we know things can change. Through age-old solutions such as manual hand pumps and water wells supplying up to 10,000 people, we deliver vital resources as well as improve the health and sanitation of entire communities. With access to clean, safe drinking water women and children can dedicate time to education, employment and/or household responsibilities. They have the chance to improve their lives.
So, join us in our mission to provide water that is crystal clear. Invest in a solution.
