Violence, displacement, and malnutrition in Sudan

The Messenger (PBUH) said: "Whoever helps his brother in his time of need, Allah will be there in his time of need." (Hadith Muslim)

8.3 million people have been forced to flee their homes in Sudan since the conflict broke out in April, including over 1.8 million who have fled across the borders. A staggering 24.8 million people need humanitarian help as hunger and sickness have spiralled, and 15,000 people have been killed.

This Ramadan, 18 million people need food. Without it, 222,000 children could die from malnutrition.

Don’t forget your brothers and sisters in Sudan. Help us to provide healthcare through mobile clinics, and support some of the most vulnerable children through the five orphanages we’re supporting in Khartoum.

£30 - Provide food for one orphan for one month.

£45 - Help provide basic care supplies including nappies and baby formula for one baby for one month.

£50 - Help contribute towards the running costs of the orphanage.

£90 – provide a Ramadan family food parcel in Sudan, providing 60 family-sized meals, helping to fight malnutrition.

£35 – Help our mobile clinics to provide treatment for sickness, malnutrition, and disease. The World Health Organization estimates that 70% of health facilities aren’t working.

Malnutrition and disease

Sudan is facing one of the worst humanitarian disasters in recent memory. The sheer number of people in urgent need of food is staggering.

Up to 3.4 million young children will be malnourished by the end of the year, and there are spiralling cases of measles and cholera, especially among children. Even before the conflict, Sudan had of the highest rates of malnutrition among children in the world, but now, children are facing even greater risk.

Not only are children at risk of being killed in conflict, but they also are at risk of dying from the conditions they’re exposed to as they try to survive without access to healthcare, food and safe living conditions. Half of the 6.5 million people displaced inside Sudan are children.

Be a mercy to a child in Sudan, and reap the multiplied blessings of Ramadan.
